Packing Tips
Here are a few tips to make your packing a little more efficient.
Appliances
Always wrap your small appliances in inkless newspaper or towels. For packing, use a small box padded with more newspaper first.
For large appliances, be sure to check your owner's manual, first, to make sure there aren't any special packing instructions listed. Add lots of packing material in the front and on the sides.
Art Collectibles
Use corrugated corners on each piece. Also, wrap them in plenty of bubble wrap. Pad the bottom of the box with newspaper.
Books
Pack books only in small boxes because they get heavy very fast.
Clothing
Try to use wardrobe boxes when packing clothing.
Electronic Equipment
For electronic equipment, the best thing to use would be the original box with its packing material. If you don't have these, it's a very good idea to use heavy-duty TV boxes. The last thing you want is for your box to break open and your equipment to be destroyed.
Furniture
Any furniture you can take apart, do so. Tape all drawers shut if you can. Wrap the legs of tables and chairs in bubble wrap. Try to use furniture pads.
Kitchenware
Wrap all fragile items in bubble wrap or inkless newspaper. If you are packing plates or bowls, be sure to put layers of bubble wrap or newspaper in between.
