About Us
Animal Care Hospital of Matthews was established in 1984 and was originally known as Butler Animal Hospital. It was in 1992 when the practice changed hands that it became known as Animal Care Hospital of Matthews. Animal Care is currently a two-doctor practice that treats dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, and pocket pets.

Meet Dr. Rutowski
Frank Rutowski, DVM graduated from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in the spring of 1990. Upon graduation he went to work for Butler Animal Hospital. In 1992 Dr. Rutowski bought Butler Animal Hospital and changed the name to Animal Care Hospital of Matthews.
Dr. Rutowski is currently and has been in the past the proud owner of many different pet species including dogs, cats, birds, horses, fish, sugar gliders and turtles.
American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA)

Animal Care Hospital of Matthews is proud to be an accredited member of the AAHA. The AAHA is at the forefront of advances in patient care, hospital design and continuing education.
In order to qualify for this voluntary membership, Animal Care Hospital of Matthews had to meet stringent standards of equipment, laboratory and radiology services, cleanliness, surgical facilities, record keeping and more. The AAHA performs periodic inspections of the Animal Care facility to ensure the hospital is in proper condition to keep the AAHA accreditation.
Animal Care's membership in the AAHA is a strong indication of our desire and dedication to practice the highest quality of veterinary medicine.
