C.B. "Brother" Hackett, DVM

Dr. C. B. Hackett, "Brother," was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and soon after that moved to Baton Rouge. His interest in becoming a veterinarian began at an early age while spending his summers working with cattle in Cameron, LA. He graduated from University High School and completed his pre-vet work by receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from LSU. Since there were no schools of veterinary medicine in this area at the time, he attended Oklahoma State University. In 1967, Dr. Hackett received his DVM from Oklahoma State University. He then spent two years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Blytheville, Arkansas. He returned to Baton Rouge, where he has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for the past 35 years.

Dr. Hackett is a highly respected and recognized veterinarian within his profession as evidenced by the following: recipient of the Upjohn Award for proficiency in Veterinary Clinical Medicine, a member of the Alpha Psi Veterinary Fraternity, past president of the Baton Rouge Area Veterinary Medical Association, member of BRAVMA, Veterinary Orthopedic Society, Louisiana Academy of Veterinary Practice, and the American Animal Hospital Association.

Dr. Hackett's special interests include veterinary dentistry, internal medicine, endoscopy, ultrasound, and orthopedic surgery. Dr. Hackett enjoys cycling, fly-fishing and spending time with his wife, Edith, and their three grandchildren, William, McCall, and Thomas. He is also an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
