Alkaline
Alkaline batteries depend on internal chemical reactions to produce power. To reduce power loss during storage, alkaline batteries should be stored at a maximum temperature of 77°F. Ensure that batteries are stored away from any equipment that generates heat.
Lithium Ion
Charge the lithium ion battery pack before first use. If stored for a period of time, this type of battery will self-discharge, resulting in shorter run time. The lithium ion battery pack will grow to be warm during recharging and also during use. This is normal and not a defect.
Nickel Cadmium (NICAD)
Fully charge the NICAD battery before first use. For charging time, see battery charger instruction manual. Never expose to rain or moisture. Most NICAD packs have a built-in safety fuse device that will prevent operation of the battery pack if the battery pack reaches a high temperature. Operation will resume once the temperature is back to normal.
Nickel Metal Hydride
Fully charge the nickel metal hydride battery pack before first use. See charger manual for recharging times. Never run nickel metal hydride battery packs completely dead. The metal hydride battery pack has a built-in fuse device that will prevent operation of the battery pack if it reaches a high temperature. Operation will resume when the temperature returns to normal.
