38 Hour Course: 30 Hours of Classroom, 8 Hours of Driving Time
Louisiana law requires fifteen and sixteen year-old teens to take an approved 38-hour driver's education course. (Under 15 you are not permitted to drive under any circumstance.)
Under the graduated licensing program, these (fifteen and sixteen year-old) teens must drive with a licensed driver, age twenty-one or older, during the learner's permit phase.
After this phase, the applicant returns to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles office for the driving test and upgrades to an intermediate license. After receiving an intermediate license, the applicant may drive alone except between the hours of 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, until reaching the age of seventeen.
You must maintain a learner's permit for 180 days before applying for the intermediate license, provided you have not yet reached the age of 17.
Cost: $475
Pay in full in advance, or $200 registration is required to hold the student's place in class, with the balance of $275 due the first day of the classroom instruction.
(Please note that the student's place in class is not guaranteed until the registration fee is received in our office.)
Classes are limited to 40 students! Please remit registration fee no later than 14 days prior to beginning of class to reserve your place in class.
