SCHOOL GROUNDS AND EQUIPMENT

Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. is housed in a 4,000 square foot building comprised of spacious classrooms, private student clinic rooms, a library, a reception area, seating area, a retail store, and student lounge with kitchen facilities, as well as private office areas.
There are three spacious classrooms for Massage Therapy and Facial Specialist/Body Wrap/Make-Up Artistry students. The anatomy and physiology classroom accommodates as many as twenty-five students. The open massage classroom has the capacity for more than eight massage tables allowing easy movement for students and instructors. A private Facial Specialist II classroom accommodates (12) students with seven (7) fully equipped workstations. There are sixteen separate massage/facial/body wrap clinic rooms equipped with massage tables, linens, pillows, bolsters tables and lamps and body wrap supplies. The facial/make-up artistry rooms are equipped with massage tables, linens, pillows and state of the art facial, waxing equipment, and make-up artistry supplies.
Classroom supplies include: tables, chairs, video equipment, TV, overhead projector, life-sized skeleton model, other anatomical models, videos, various facial and waxing equipment, make-up/body wrap products and supplies. Classes are lectured and enhanced with overhead slides, videos, equipment and demonstrations by the instructors or guest speakers prior to actual hands-on training.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES FOR MASSAGE THERAPY, FACIAL SPECIALIST II.

The Admissions Office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:30pm by appointment only. To apply for admission, applicants should schedule an appointment with an admissions representative at the school for a personal interview and tour of the school facilities. At this time applicants will receive a copy of the school’s catalog. Upon registration, the applicant will complete the enrollment and financial agreement, as well as other necessary forms required for registration. The student will also provide a copy of a high school diploma, GED Certificate, or receive a minimum equivalency score of 10th grade on the TABE Test, or an equivalent Florida Commission for Independent Education approved testing method, to determine the student’s ability to benefit from the respective program. The student then tenders the respective registration fee. The School Director will grant or deny approval for admission based upon entrance criteria as well as ability to benefit and any other circumstances, which may be applicable to the admission process.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Please be aware that criminal records may affect the eligibility for application to the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Body Work (NCBTMB) Testing for massage therapy, Florida Board of Massage Licensing for Massage Therapy, Florida Board of Cosmetology Specialty Registration for Facial Specialists Specialist and Body Wrap Specialists. It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify their eligibility with the respective agencies. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. is not responsible for determining eligibility or for the student’s inability to obtain Licensure and/or Registration.
Physical limitations may affect the ability to perform Massage Therapy, which requires stretching, standing for long periods of time and maintaining proper posture positioning. Facial Specialist I & II, Body Wrap and Make-Up Artistry students will be required to stand for long periods of time and maintain proper posture positioning that may be hindered by physical limitations.

TRANSFER CREDITS to Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc.

All credits from other institutions will be evaluated according to the following guidelines:

Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. will be provided with a certified transcript mailed directly from an institution licensed by the Florida State Department of Education or an equivalent licensing authority of another state. Please bring all documents pertinent to your previous training (i.e., a school catalog describing the course you're requesting credit for).

Transferability of credits is at the discretion of the receiving school. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. cannot assure transferability of credits. Courses for which credit is granted shall parallel in content and intensity to courses offered by Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc., determined by a personal interview with administration. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. reserves the right to test a prospective student using oral, written and/or practical exams to evaluate a student's previous training. Tuition will be reduced proportionately for credit hours accepted at the discretion of Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Credit for courses completed at another school or college for students enrolling at the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. will be subject to approval by the Director.

The applicant requesting credit hour transfer must submit the following:

  • A registration fee of $100.00 for entrance to the program.
  • A certified transcript mailed directly from an institution licensed by the Florida State Department of Education or an equivalent licensing authority of another state.
  • The minimum fee of $400.00 is required regardless of previous training to cover a maximum of 32 hours for transfer of massage therapy hourly credits.
  • Additional fees will be charged if more hours are required. A minimum fee of $300.00 is required regardless of previous training to cover a maximum of 15 hours for transfer of Facial Specialist hours. Additional fees will be charged if more hours are required.
  • A minimum of a 70% average must be met to transfer hourly credits.

TRANSFERABILITY OF CREDITS from Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc.

Transferability of credit is at the discretion of the accepting institution, and it is the student's responsibility to confirm whether or not another institution of the student's choice will accept credits, whether in state or out of state.

1. Community Outreach Program
Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc., is committed to providing outreach services to the community. The staff and students volunteer their time and gifts of touch to individuals and groups such as the elderly, sports teams, children, and office workers. Students are required to participate in a minimum of one community service event during their school term.

2. Placement Assistance
A professional rapport is developed and maintained with local employers by the placement department to provide a comprehensive listing of jobs currently available as well as projected jobs. Students attend a career development class included in the curriculum, inclusive of resume writing assistance to prepare them for entry-level employment in their chosen field. The placement department additionally assists students and graduates with coordinating interviews, and placement assistance. Students are required to provide the school with a current resume and State License or Specialty Registration for their occupation to qualify for placement assistance. Although Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. provides placement assistance, it does not promise or guarantee employment.

3. Seminar Programs
Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc., sponsors workshops, seminars and lectures by experts in the field of massage, skin care and natural health care. These programs are strictly optional and are for the benefit of the community as well as the students.

FINANCIAL AID SERVICES

Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. provides assistance to students who require financial aid in order to pay for tuition and expenses at the school. The Financial Aid Services Department establishes procedures that assure fair and consistent treatment of all applicants. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Provides a Student Financial Aid Account Manager to assist students in determining eligibility criteria for finance options.

FINANCIAL AID OPTIONS

A. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. In-House Student loans
A variety of In-House student loans are available to students starting at 0%. All loans must be paid back according to the individual Enrollment and Finance Agreement and a minimum monthly payment is required for those who qualify. All refunds are disbursed to students according to the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Cancellation and Refund Policy.

B. Private Funding Loans
A variety of private loans are available to students. Eligibility, interest rates and terms are determined by the lender. All loans must be paid back according to the individual Enrollment and Finance Agreement and a minimum monthly payment is required for those who qualify. Students enter into a Contract with the lender and remit payments directly to the lender. Refunds are remitted directly to the lender as per Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast’s Cancellation and Refund Policy.

C. US Department of Veterans Affairs
The US Department of Veterans Affairs recipient is responsibly to report all previous education and training to the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. will evaluate previous education and training granting appropriate credit with appropriate training time and tuition reduced proportionally with the Veteran student and VA notified. Qualified students receiving VA educational funding are paid directly from the VA and are responsible for all loans and must be paid back according to the individual Enrollment and Finance Agreement and a minimum monthly payment is required for those who qualify. Refunds will be remitted directly to the student as per the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast’s Cancellation and Refund Policy.

D. Florida State Vocational Rehabilitation
The Florida State Vocational Rehabilitation is responsible for determining eligibility for perspective students for funding programs at the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. for those who qualify. Funds are remitted directly to the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. and any refunds are directly remitted to the Florida State Vocational Rehabilitation.

E. Workforce Development Board (One Stop Career Center)
The Workforce Development Board (One Stop Career Center) is responsible for determining eligibility for perspective students for funding programs at the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. for those who qualify. Funds are remitted directly to the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. and any refunds are directly remitted to the Workforce Development Board (One Stop Career Center).

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIRMENTS

All applicants must schedule an appointment with the Student Financial Account Manager to determine eligibility for financial programs. Administration will approve or reject all student loans.

To be eligible to receive student loans a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a HS Diploma or GED Certificate or take the TABE Test with a minimum score of 10th Grade to demonstrate the Ability to Benefit for the Program(s).
  • Have a financial need
  • Have a valid Social Security Number
  • Be a US Citizen or eligible non-citizen
  • Complete a credit application

FINANCIAL AID PROCEDURES

Applicants for Alpha Institute in house loans or SLM Financial Corporation must complete a credit application and credit check, which will be reviewed by Administration for approval. A co-borrower/co-buyer’s application may be required. All loans will be at the discretion of the Administration of the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc.

The Student Financial Aid Account Manager will submit the relevant paperwork to the appropriate lenders and ensure that the documents are complete and accurate. The Student Financial Aid Account Manager is the liaison between the lender and the student. The Director of Financial Services oversees the financial aid programs and assures that the students are aware of their responsibilities including the following: All student loans must be paid in accordance with the terms set forth in their Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Enrollment and Financial Agreements. If the student defaults on the terms of their loan, collection procedures in accordance with the Enrollment and Financial Agreement will be enforced. If the debt is ever in default, that fact may become part of your credit record, and you will be responsible for all late fees and collection costs in accordance with your enrollment agreement contract. If a co-borrower/co-buyer has executed the Enrollment and Finance Agreement they may have to pay up to the full amount of the debt, if the borrower does not pay. The Co-borrower/Co-buyer may have to pay late fees or collection costs. This debt can be collected from the co-borrower/co-buyer without first trying to collect from the borrower. The same collection methods used against the borrower can be used against the co-borrower/co-buyer. If the debt is ever in default that fact may become part of the co-borrower/co-buyers credit record. Financial Aid is solely the responsibility of the student. Each student must ensure that all applications are correctly filed and processed on a timely basis. The student is responsible for all tuition and fees due to the Alpha Institute of the Treasure Coast, Inc. Payment of all fees, or arrangement for the payment of all fees, must be made at the time of registration and are subject to change without notice. All financial obligations, as per the student’s Enrollment and Financial Agreement, must be met, before a student may re-enter, receive transcripts, diploma or graduate.
