• Always close and lock all windows, doors and garages when leaving the house, even for a short period of time.
• Change locks and alarms when moving into a new place of residence.
• Show signs of life, even when you are not in the house.  Put lights on timers and leave on the radio or TV.
• Communicate with your neighbors.  Let them know if you are going out of town or if you see anything suspicious. 
• Do not conceal a key under your mat or any other hiding place near your home.
• Keep your yard well lit at night to avoid unknowingly concealing any theft activity.
• Do not let a stranger into your house to use the phone.
• Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
