Can a crack in the bottom of my fiberglass tub be repaired?

Yes. An inlay can be installed that will repair the damage as well as provide support for future use.  Here are before and after pictures of a repaired tub.

BEFORE     AFTER

Can you change the color of my tub and tile?

Yes! We can change the present color to practically any other color available!

Can you see the existing non-slip surface of our bathtub after you reglaze?

If the non-slip surface consists of little circles, there is a possibility you will be able to see them slightly under scrutiny and the right light. With the broken-up line formation, you usually cannot see them after resurfacing. With the built-in non-slip in fiberglass bathtubs, you absolutely can see it.

Do old bathtubs have lead in them?

Yes, very often old bathtubs do have lead in them. Refinishing your bathtub can encapsulate the lead, thereby diminishing exposure.

Do shower doors prevent me from refinishing?

Of course not! With shower doors you can do any of a number of things. If you want to continue to use the same shower doors, we just need you to take the doors off the shower track before we arrive. You will re-install the doors after the refinished tub has cured. The doors can also be removed completely. After which, you can use a shower curtain or install new doors.

Do you need to see my bathtub before coming to do the work?

Usually not. We have standard prices for most items.

How bad is the smell when you reglaze a bathtub?

During the process we use a high-powered exhaust fan which helps minimize the odor. After we leave, it will take some time to have the odor completely ventilated. If a window is left open, that will quicken the process.

How does this compare with a bathtub liner?

Really, a reglazed bathtub by Ace Refinishers Inc. is far superior to any liner or insert. With a resurfaced or reglazed bathtub, there are no air pockets that contribute to the growth of mold, as is sometimes the case with liners. The price is far less for reglazing. Also, in the event that damage occurs, the repair is simple and quick with a reglazed bathtub. We recently were called out to work on a bathtub that a prominent bathtub liner installation company installed. The seam between the wall and tub had separated and water had flowed between the actual tub and the plastic shell. When you stepped on the floor of the tub it was as if you were walking on a water bed that moved and floated under your weight. The entire bathroom smelled of mold and stagnant water. This is one experience that will never happen with a reglazed bathtub!

How much would it cost to have my bathtub professionally cleaned?

We do come and clean bathtubs in Eastern North Carolina for $125.00. If you decide afterward to reglaze or refinish your tub, we can do that also.

How will I clean the new surface?

The manufacturer recommends the use of a non-abrasive cleaner, such as Lysol Tub & Tile Cleaner. Your shiny new surface is so shiny and hard, you will no longer need to use an abrasive cleaner!

Does my dirty bathtub absolutely need to be refinished?

At times a bathtub does not need to be refinished. We have removed all of the soap and discovered beautiful bathtubs waiting underneath!
